Sharon Bauman
Yes and No. I don't believe the writers did a good job of working this
character into the third season. There were interesting moments/interaction
between Vachon and Screed, and Screed's death scene was well done. However, the
biggest problem I had was that Screed's speech was impossible to understand.
There was so much lost in trying to comprehend his cockney accent that I lost
interest in the character. Not that he had to speak the King's English, but a
character has to be heard and understood to keep a plot going. If the writers had given up on the cockney accent and allowed Screed to speak better, it would have enhanced those story lines. He was an unusual character in that he was not like the vampires we were used to seeing -- that is, those who preferred human blood. Screed may have been too coarse for some viewers, though. If the writers had made the character of Screed slightly less coarse, more articulate, and given him some flashbacks of his own [instead of seeing Screed through Vachon's flashbacks], I believe he would have made a good addition to the vampire family and we should see more of him. Unfortunately, I never could understand his lines and lost interest in the character. Given those circumstances, I wouldn't have missed the character if he vaporized in the sunrise. |

Yes, Yes, most definately Yes!! Why? Because of the endless possibilities that were left unexplored when he was ignored. He brought back a little of the comic relief that Schanke gave to the show, but even more than that, there was a sadly missed opportunity to explore vampire life from a different perspective than we had previously seen. Though never stated, it's assumed by some that Screed was brought across by Vachon. The exploration of *that* father/son relationship would have been just as interesting as the one between Nick and LaCroix. Screed appeared in what ... 2 or 3 shows? What a waste of great acting talent and better story lines! His death seemed contrived and unnecessary and I'd love to see him brought back to the land of the living ... "such as it is." :) |

Yes, I would have liked to see more of him if for no other reason than he
provided hours of amusement trying to figure out what he was saying, and then
trying to figure out what he meant by it. He also provided a nice contrast to the members of the "vampire elite society" in Toronto - a blue-collar vamp. Too bad he never opened his own pest control business. Buisness would have been good and he could have moved out of the sewers. :) |

I would have loved to seen more of Screed. He was a scruffy guy who was an outcast but not really a threat to anyone. He seemed to want to give the impression that he didn't need anyone but was really very lonely. He also turned out to be a really good friend to Vachon and I think the two of them could have had some interesting adventures. |
Farah
Yes, I would definitely have liked to have seen more of Screed! He added some humor to the show especially since GWD's talents for humor were not shown enough. Also, Screed was just, well... different. He adds another aspect of vampires to the show. |
Karen
Screed was an interesting addition to the 3rd season. I think Nick was slightly amused by him. As with all those who were killed off, Screed should have not died, although, it provided an opportunity to show Vachon's relationship with Screed. There were already too many principal players in the show, and Screed was obviously background, but he could have been used more and more effectively. |

Yes I would have liked to know him better. I think by knowing him better we
could have learned more about the Vampires life (or unlife).. what they could
do... their habits... that there are certainly different types of vampires. We
could have learned more about Vachon's past by knowing Screed. It might have
been interesting to see how Screed's emergence would have affected Tracy's
relationship with Vachon as Screed and Tracy would have had to come to some
type of understanding, both part of Vachon's life. Don Schanke served the part of comic relief in the first season. By the 2nd season he had become a dramatic force and an important part of Nick's life and story plot. If our beloved show had continued to a 4th season... the writers could have developed more of a story line for poor Screed. (we hardly knew ye). FK fiction writers have dug up (Ha) Screed in some instances and I have enjoyed him. |
A. Knoke
Neither. I thought we saw the right amount of him. I liked the character -- he
was different than any other vampire we'd seen -- but a *ton* of Screed would
have gotten annoying. I, personally, never found the accent to be a problem. But then, I watch *way* too much British television. ;) |
Ken Kapoor
Yes. Because he was more interesting than Tracy, has a better disposition than Natalie, and a better haircut than Vachon. |
Reva
Screed drove me crazy until the episode Fever. When he died I felt sorry for him. One less vampire-that made me sad. But he took time away from core characters. Like Nick. Malenky man I sure wanted to see more of him not Screed. I think there were just enough episodes featuring Screed to make him an almost tolerable character. |
Missie
I would have liked to see more of Screed because he was funny. |
Julia
Yes, I liked Screed. Too bad he wasn't brought in until the third season. Somehow, I think he and Schanke could have been very funny together. And I don't think Schanke would have despised him as much as Nick did. |
Arletta Asbury
Yes, I always enjoyed him. He was funny. But I can understand why he might have been difficult to write into many episodes -- a rat eating former sailor isn't easy to include in a storyline. |
Knight Flyer
Yes, I would to have seen more of Screed. He lent a more down to earth quality to the segments he was in.----He was what he was, and he made no excuses for it, but he would help a friend anyway he could. |
K-A
Not partically. He was funny but I would not have cared either way much. |
Mary Lou Manzie
Yes! I always liked Screed and was disappointed when he died. I'm not exactly sure why I liked the character, but perhaps it was that he didn't seem to take himself so "deadly" seriously. He also brought some needed diversity to the cast along with his humor. He did not seem as dangerous as some other vampires and almost like some street people, just seemed to want to "get by." I miss him! |
Natasha & the wildman
The wildman thinks Screed was kind of gross, yet definately a humorous
character. I must admit, while his eating habits ruined any appetite I may have
had at the time, his death scene even put tears in my eyes. Bring him back!
Bring all the other characters back! And for goodness sake, (thanks to Natasha
bringing me across to this show) BRING FOREVER KNIGHT BACK!!! Natasha agrees! Screed wasn't exactly my favorite vamp, but I hate to see ANY vampire die! |
Richard Manly
What I liked best about "Forever Knight" was the way it re-stated the human condition in supernatural terms. Just because Nick was a vampire didn't mean it didn't hurt when he got dumped. (Remember the secretary who would date Schanke but not him?) It's the same with Screed. He was one of those guys who was just as content to live in his basement as Nick was in his loft. I would have liked to hear Screed's opinions on something human; cars or sports or the grossly unfair image of vampires in modern film. |
Pat Casey
I'd like to see more Screed. I think he added the comic relief that was needed in the 3rd season. His expressions and phrases were unique and very funny. |
Julian Luna
Yes I wish I would see more of him, he had a funny ACCENT!!!! |
Dayna
I have to agree with Reva. Screed drove me crazy until he died, then I felt sorry for him. However I think we (or I at least) had, had enough of him by then and it was time for him to go. |
Star Allen
Sure why not. I like Screed. He's a bit grotesque at times and I certainly wouldn't rank him in the same class as Nick or Vachon but he has alot of potential. I think Fever showed that there is some depth there even if it is buried down deep and I'd like to see it explored. Him and Vachon are good together and I love the accent. Screed seems at times almost vulnerable and kind of innocent despite what he is and his past. I'd enjoy seeing his character explored and explained. We know he was sailor but what else. He definitly has potential. |
Serin
Of course! Though a little hard to understand at times, our rat-sucking buddy was a lot of fun. It was nice to see a vampire that wasn't either very old and sophisticated or very young with spiked purple hair. Besides, one rarely saw him without Vachon somewhere near! :^) |
Rosebud
Yes! I don't think Screed should have died in "Fever," I knida feel sorry for him, he was one past cool vampire!!! But then again, any vampires are way cool!!!!!! This is one cool site!!!!!!!!! |
Rachel
Yep. They should have left him on longer, because he was a vampire you knew almost nothing about. And he was weird. (Weird fits most FK fans well!) Kinda hard to understand, though. |
