I thought that the third season was more relavant to current issues but maybe not as detailed in the historical aspects of the show that I loved. The quality of the stories however remained consistently high. |

The second season was the best, with the complex friendships between Nick,
Janette, Schanke, and Natalie. With the departures of Janette and Schanke at
the beginning of season 3, there had to be new characters introduced. But Tracy
and Vachon (along with Vachon's friends, Urs and Screed) seemed to interact
more with each other than with Nick and Nat. Capt. Reese was a dull and predictable presence in the squad room; I preferred Capt. Cohen's leadership. Of course, I always smile when I think of Natsuko Ohama's portrayal of the Janette-like owner of the Raven in "Curiouser and Curiouser". I preferred LaCroix as Nick's tempter and tormenter, not as his good buddy. (In one second season episode, I think it was "Beyond the Law", Nick asks LaCroix, "What are you doing here?" LaCroix purrs, "Oh, the usual. Making your life a living hell.") The final episodes of the season, as more and more characters were killed off, were increasingly upsetting. "Last Knight", in my universe, simply DID NOT HAPPEN! -By Melanie Mitchell with input from Ann Mitchell, who cannot type this week due to hand surgery. Get well soon, Ann. |

My overall impression of the third season was that it was excellent. I started watching the show in the latter half of the second season and became an avid fan in the third season. I recently had the chance to view some first season episodes and I must say the show certainly changed over the years. The third season had effective special effects. It differed from the first season in that it was much darker in tone. I did like the third season. I found it to be very intelligent. Although, I think they had trouble finding Tracy's niche at the beginning, I think they eventually figured out how to place her in the story. Man, do I miss that show. |

Overall, I liked the third season. At first I didn't like Tracy because she was just too damn perky. Not to mention the fact that she always acted like she had something to prove. I am somewhat disappointed by the fact that Natalie and Nick never truly got together and he never quite told her how he felt about her. As a matter of fact, that whole idea of Nick taking Nat's life without telling her he loved her (and yes I know that doing so would have given LaCroix the chance to take her life, but heck, if she's going to die anyway....). I felt that this was just the worst. Nat and I deserved to hear Nick profess his love for her. |

I liked the third season although the second was my favorite. I missed Schanke in the third but I enjoyed the new characters. I really enjoyed Lacroix in the third season. His heart warms a little and we get to learn more about him and his relationship to Nick. |
Nicole Nelson-Hicks
I'm a virgin. I don't have any other seasons to compare it with. From what I've read on the Dominion's Bulletin Boards, the powers that be are supposed to start running the first two seasons at the start of the new year. They had best not be pulling my strings!!! I do have a comment about the third season, however: In the previous seasons, did Natalie EVER get out of that damn morgue? Even in the romantic dream Nick had about them (remember the 'We're going to have a baby!" scene?), she was still in that linen white lab coat and they were hugging in the damn freezer at the flipping morgue!!! Anybody else ever notice that? |
Wanda Lugaro
Even when I liked the third season, (after all I am a devoted fan) tt was not up to my expectations. Lacroix was not his old self, Vachon, Urs and his carrouche friend were more like shadows, with no substance. Tracy, well sorry to say this but she never got to me. Killing Natalie was totally absurd, as a matter of fact it never happened (for me), Lacroix brought her accross and didn't kill Nicholas either. He would never kill his favorite son. |

Silly you -- What kind of answer do you expect to get from a former Knightie turned Vaquera? Nick may have gotten me to watch the show, but when they brought out Vachon, I was totally glued. Beyond the hormonal overload, I liked the two different vampire/mortal relationships. How they were different and yet still the same. I did think it got a little gratuitous with the show of flesh, but that was probably at the dictate of USANetwork. I liked the new -- forgive me -- blood: Vachon, Urs and Screed. I missed Janette but did not mourn Schanke. He annoyed me. I missed Cohen. Reese annoyed me. I think they were really starting to get into defining the FK universe in the 3rd season. There was so much left undone, unsaid, undefined. To sum it up, I LOVED the 3rd season, just not the fact that it was the last season. |

The third season was my least favorite. With Schanke gone, Nick had no comic relief, Tracy's character was dull. The latter episodes were an improvement over the earlier ones introducing Vachon and Co., but the last episode was a downer. The only thing making it tolerable was the interview (convention?) with GWD where he felt all the characters survive (there's ample evidence). The loss of Jeanette was a mistake. |

Since I have not seen season 1 or 2 you can guess what my comment will be. I loved it!!!!!!!!! That is why I am here. Obsessive about the show. Can't wait to see the 1 & 2 season. Dedicated NN Packer! |

Yes. We both liked year 3, but so many episodes were relentlessly grim... |

I didn't discover the show until the third season and I thought it was the greatest thing ever to hit TV. I was instantly hooked. Since then, though, I've seen tapes of the first and second season and now I'd have to say that *overall* third season was the worst. There were a few good episodes, but IMHO most of the story lines were pretty lame. (I mean, come on, a tri-personality vampiress who doesn't even know she is one! And a 'caurouche' (sp?) that Nick didn't even bother to track down!) USA really watered it down, too, as far as Nick's quest for mortality and his wardrobe (all black? - too depressing.) Vachon was a great addition (pant! pant!) but Tracy had no business on the force. While there were a few great episodes (SoB, NiQ, TGVP), third season can't compare with second season's great stories, excellent wardrobe, and surpurb character interaction. I'm not saying I wish third season hadn't been shown (we all want to see Ger as much as possible), I just think USA could have done a lot better with it. Sorry if I sound too negative, but thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Oh, and one more thing - Bring Back The Knight!!!!!! |
Danielle Goldstein
I loved it! Also I have basically only seen it. I can't imagine it without Vachon and Tracy. (I'm not a Vaquera or Perkulator!) The first 2 sound interesting and I can't wait to see them either. |

The 3rd season was good, but I missed Janette & Skanke terribly. I wish there had been time to see developement in the relationship between Tracy & Vachon. It was the absolute worst the way they begin killing off the characters one by one-week after week. And then to let the show end without Nick telling Nat how much he loved her... for me the last show simple does not exist. Sure hope miracles happen. Would love a 4th season.. and a 5th.. and a 6th..and.... |

I really enjoyed the third season. I had watched Forever Knight from the first episode of the first season. I had even seen the Nick Night movie with Rick Springfield when it was first shown, so I have been with FK since the beginning. I boycotted the first few episodes of the third season because I was very resistant to them changing the show and getting rid of Schanke and particularly Janette. I also thought they were bringing in Tracy as some new love interest for Nick and rival for Nat and I did not take kindly to the idea. Once I did tune in, and the new characters roles were defined, Tracy as Nick's protege and Vachon as her love interest I really got hooked again. I enjoyed watching how they mirrored Nick & Nat with Tracy & Vachon, I always got the feeling Nat wanted to give Tracy an earfull! I wish they could have had the characters all interact more and that Tracy had known about Nick sometime before she was about to die. On the whole I think the plots for the third season were the most sophisticated, and even though the ending was lousy, this season had the most excitement since the series started. It also showed Nick and LaCroix's relationship come full circle. As LaCroix said to Nick "you really do like me, you just don't know that you do." |

As with all series, FK's third season had its ups and downs. I didn't much care
for the Schanke character because he was always complaining. But he could have
been written better. I had higher hopes with the introduction of Tracy Vetter,
but that, too, proved disappointing. The writers could have made her a strong
character [strong female roles sorely lacking since killing off Janette and
Capt. Cohen], but they made her into a loser. She's introduced as a top-notch,
professional cop, and almost everything after that contradicts it. She was a
loose cannon, acting unprofessionally. Her better scenes were with Vachon,
where she had the chance to ACT - show concern, the unrequited love/like, her
angst at having to keep secrets from her partner, etc. On the plus side, I liked the further development of LaCroix in the third season. I've always liked the LaCroix character - he's so cynical. But during the third season we got to see more depth to his feelings; and his history. I always enjoy the flashbacks because that gives us insight into who these vampires are and how they evolved emotionally. I would have liked to have seen more in-depth flashbacks of Vachon. We're introduced to him as a Spanish conquerer in South America and then poof - he's in the same time periods as the other flashbacks [1800s; early 1900s]. Urs could have used more development. She seemed to be a tragic figure. I especially liked her in the episode where a female vampire is doing all these killings [and doesn't know she's killing and she's a vampire] and Urs identifies with her so strongly. Vachon was a great character [as was Ben Bass who played him] and his scenes with Nick were great. I would have liked to have seen more development of their interaction. I think if Nick, Nat, Vachon, and Tracy all knew each other knew, it would have made for good storylines. I don't think Nick was utilized as well in the third season as he was in the second. I know Geraint directed more this season, but he only had so much material to work with. As far as character development, I think he should have admitted his feelings toward Natalie instead of always skirting the issue. And of course, I disliked and liked the last episode "Last Knight". While the writers left it ambigious as to whether Natalie died, and whether LaCroix staked Nick, I was actually sorry to see Tracy die. But since Vachon was killed off in the previous episode, "Ashes to Ashes", Tracy had few characters with whom to really interact. She talked to Nick, but there really wasn't the interaction [that even Schanke had] between partners. I thought Forever Knight was a good series, a good vampire story, and miss it terribly. I keep hoping that we'll convince the "powers that be" to give us a fourth+ season. Of course, I cannot imagine anyone stepping into the roles of Nick, Natalie, and LaCroix, in the event that they are unavailable to continue or choose not to. So, given that, if we can't have the original cast back, I'll just keep replaying the episodes I was able to tape. |

Some of the third season episodes were very good including MBIAV, AtA, SoB, etc., but they really did the show in when they killed off Schanke and Cohen, and eventually everyone. I wanted to see more of Nick battling his vampireness, overcoming it for his mortality and there just wasn't enough of that. I wanted Nick to be bad and then be good. (The dark knightie in me). Also, I think LaCroix, although he had some very good monologues during this season, was way too NICE. Come on, LaCroix, the killer vampire, caring about anyone (except maybe Nick). Right. I think not. LaCroix should have been allowed to be his usual nasty self, that's what we love about him. I think the addition of Tracy (ugh) was unnecessary. As for Vachon, I liked him, so that was a good addition. Urs and Screed, for me, did nothing for the show, just added a bit of blase vampireness. They also didn't have enough flashbacks for my liking. That was the best part of the entire premise of the show, of Nick and LaCroix in past lives. Also, they killed off Janette which was a terrible blow to the show. She, Nick, and Lacroix were the gruesome threesome, so to speak, and belonged together. I think poor Natalie got the worst writing of the entire cast, she changed from being an upbeat, idealistic person to a sour, old, dried-up medical examiner, which wasn't very complimentary to her character. I think if they had a fourth season, they should have gotten rid of Tracy and somehow softened Nat, and wickened up LaCroix and Nick. Then it would have been more like seasons one and two. But, regardless, of all of this. FK was still the BEST show on TV, and I sorely miss it. |
Ellen Tracy
While I prefer the second season, I did like the third season, or more
sepcifically, the latter half of the third season. With the exception of "Black
Buddha" and "My Boyfriend is a Vampire", the first half of the third season was
not up to FK par. But I loved almost every episode from "Night in Question" on.
While I think the absence of Janette was criminal (and was not all that taken
"Human Factor", I did love Nick's backsliding (loved "The Games Vampires Play")
and the development in Nick and LaCroix' relationship (I felt bad that Vachon
and Urs "died", but "Ashes to Ashes" stands out as one of my favourite episodes
- right up there with "Be My Valentine"). So I did like the last half of the third season, but the second season is still THE BEST! Thanks for asking!!! |
Marie
I have only seen 3rd season, and only bits and pieces of seasons one and two,
so my say-so may not count, but I'm gonna say my thoughts anyway. Well, first-of-all, AtA and LK did *not* happen! We were all just having a nasty nightmare! (I have a bad case of FK withdrawl). Okay, now that that has been cleared up, 3rd season was really good. I liked how they brought in another good looking male vampire and even though I miss Schanke, Tracy was nice at times, but she was way too perky. Janette leaving p***ed me off because I was looking forward to seeing her again this last season. I was happy when she came back in HF, but she wasn't the same Janette (come on, Janette human?!). I also thought she was dead and I thought I was going to have major fit, but I was quite happy when I was informed that Nick had brought her back across. I really enjoyed Fever, NiQ, SoB, BB1&2, MBiaV, HoD, DoN, and HF. They, in my opinion, were the best eps of 3rd season. One thing that I am wondering, what was with the killing spree in the last two eps (that didn't actually happen)? They leave LaCroix and Capt. Reese alone and atempt to kill everyone else. (They didn't succeed in their murders, though) I told you I had a bad case of FK withdrawl. FK withdrawl and me being a 15 year old teenager, don't mix right. Oh, well, till the next question... :) |

Except for the fact it you could almost hear the USA Network people saying
"Gotta have more half-naked babes" I think the third season was quite good.
There was some really incredible writing happening and The acting was, as
always, good. I really miss Schanke and Janette, though. Schanke was kind of a
grounding point for Nick, I think - and with him he didn't have to spend half
his time saving him, like he did with Tracey. All in all, 3rd season had some
really clever bits, I thought, which makes the cancelling of it even more
baffling, but let's not go there. PS: To DigitalEd, if I may... No way would Newcastle beat Manchester United! |

I liked it 75% to 25%. It was the only season I saw, but it could of used more of the Natalie and Nick relationship. The 25% not like is basically the last episode and the one about that Marion person. |
Theryn L. Knight
I didn't like the 3rd season as much because of his new partner, Tracy. I think Nick and Schanke had a nice relationship that perked up the show a bit, and Tracy's personality didn't add anything. |
Court Stone
I found the third season very interesting. They started to take the show in some new directions-AND THEN THEY KILLED IT!!!!! I started watching in the second season and when I heard that USA had picked it up I had hope for a big budget and a long run. I missed Janette and Schanke, but I did like Vachon and his crew (did anybody understand a word Screed said?). I got my mother and my sister hooked on the show (and Vachon), and all three of us think that Sony/Tristar/USA/WHOEVER should BRING BACK FOREVER KNIGHT!!!! |
Cousin Sarah
I liked it as well as the others ... but I miss Schank! Also- too many missed opportunities. No progression with Vachon & Tracy, not enough backsliding for Nick, not enough life of her own for Nat, not enough love-life for Uncle, and we could have used more Raven music. And Last Knight was too heavy on "last"! Especially for something, and someone, who is supposed to last ...FOREVER!!! |
LB Burstiner
I started watching during the third season and as soon as saw GWD, and then realized it was a show about vampires, I was hooked. I then saw tapes of the first two seasons, and I realize why people like them so much better. But I think the third season has its merits, and I think took some chances with new characters and serious story lines. I think Nick's character became a bit too mopey, but the flashbacks and the acting was still top-notch. |
Karen
I enjoyed season three for the most part. I think Nick, Nat and Lacroix all had
their characters down pat so they had fun playing them and it showed. Even
though I hated not having Schanke and Janette around, the addition of Tracey,
Vachon, Urs and Screed did give the show a more underground vampire air. The
revision of the Raven was a thoughtful touch. A more humorous side of Nick was
shown and could have been brought out more in the season, but it played really
well with Tracey, Vachon and Nat. I always enjoyed the interaction between Nick
and Lacroix and this season was the best by far, in that I think Nick wasn't
seeking approval from Lacroix as it seemed in the past. He'd go to him with
questions and a need for explanation, but I never felt he wanted LC to
understand why he felt the way he did as I had in other seasons. Most people I know will agree one of the assets of Season 3 was Vachon. I think they could have done alot more with him and Nick and LC. We tuned in to see what Nick was up to, how Nat was, but the addition of Vachon didn't take away from them, only brought more out of the others. I guess the best reason I liked 3 the most is that I actually did see the entirety of 3 while it was hit or miss for the others. Can't wait for 1 and 2 on SciFi to get the big picture!! |
Jayma Kay Riley
I really liked th last part of the third season. Up until the horrible 'Last
Knight', GVP, AtoA, SoB, NiQ, Francesca were exceptionally good. When I first saw BB I thought Vachon was going to try to compete with Nick, and hated him. I got to like his character later on though. 'NO ONE can replace Nick!' Also, I liked the way we got to see a much more defined Lacroix third season. I loved the monologues. NB's acting ability was really shown off well. Tracy was OK most of the time. She should have been allowed to know about Nick though, I believe. She and Nat could have really helped each other out. And maybe Nat wouldn't have become such a b**ch. I don't think such a big deal should have been made of the Nick-Nat relationship. They were better together as just friends. And lastly, I think Capt. Reese was a big improvement over past Captains. I am a fan from way back, though I missed some of the first and second season in my travels. I really really really miss my 'Forever Knight'! |
Courtney Clemmons
I HATED the third season because everyone had to die! Why couldn't they keep Don because I DID NOT like Tracy. She was extremely extremely annoying. |
Reva
I know I already answered the question but I thought of some more to say. I think Nick seemed a lot happier in the first season than he did in the third. Perhaps GWD sensed it would be the final season and played the role accordingly. He seemed to accept his identity as a vampire in the third season. I also think he had a different attitude towards his partner in the third season. Nick and Schanke were equals but he seemed to protect Tracy and tell her what to do a lot (Not that she listened to him) Still, as I said it was a great season. |
Sue Schipman
I never saw the first two seasons, but I can't believe they could top the third. I just got hooked and, suddenly, it was over! "Last Knight" was the best series finale I have ever seen. I want more! |
Chris Rosmini
I started watching at the beginning of the third season, and was immediately
hooked by Nick and his search for a way back to humanity, and by the
relationship between Nick and Natalie. I loved Nick the outsider trying to live
a decent life in the mortal world despite his dreadful nature, and to be free
of the results of one terrible mistake, and I loved GWD portraying this. I
really liked this hopeful premise and third season was the one I fell in love
with, but now that I've seen some first and second season episodes, I think
first season was the best at presenting it. I like the energy and humour and
intelligence Nick had at the beginning a lot better than the resignation and
sadness of the end. I like the third season characters but think duplicating the vampire-mortal romance seemed to steal some of Nick's air of "otherness" and Natalie's enthusiasm. The show lost a lot of balance with the Jeanette and Schanke characters, and went from being about Nick's love affair with mortality at war with the lure of the vampire existence, to being a personal struggle between Nick and LaCroix. Which for me meant going from metaphor and myth to genre fiction. And I hate the softening of LaCroix's character and Nick's reconciliation with him. Much as I enjoy seeing Nick in his backsliding moments, I wanted him to win and he doesn't do that by giving up and accepting life as a vampire. Natalie gives in to desperation and looses totally. Maybe a fourth and fifth season could have reversed that trend and made a satisfying overall circle, but as it is it ends with the abandonment of hope and the death of love, and I don't like it. I guess I can accept that with the story line they had, tragedy was the only possible ending, but I wish they hadn't chickened out and at least let Nick tell Natalie he loved her. Third season was smooth and well done, with some really brilliant moments and performances, and head and shoulders above most TV drama. I just wish it had kept the optimism of the earlier seasons. And of course that it had gone on forever. |
Ellen Ashton-Haiste
I really enjoyed the third season. I expected not to, being a big fan of John
Kapelos (and member of his fan club) as well as of Deb Duchene. From what I had
heard I was sure it was going to be horrible. But I loved it. Tracy, IMHO, was
a great character and a nice counterpoint to Nick but in a different way from
Schanke. She had many levels, from the "perkiness" which is where many people
seem to have stopped, to professionalism, deep-rooted family problems, a strong
committment to fair play and justice and a level of understanding, awareness of
other-worldly things and a compassion that enabled her to accept Vachon as he
was and for what he was. Vachon was another complex character, worthy of further study. And in the third season the relationship between Nick and Nat was taken to yet another level, I thought. I don't know it that explains why I liked it but despite my pre-conceived ideas and, albeit kicking and screaming at first, I was hooked into the story and, at the end, only wanted MORE of the same. |
Richard Manly
The third season had the good sense to retain its unique combination of fear and laughter. However, and you knew there would be a "however," didn't you, the original cast and chemistry was a more successful vehicle for Nick Knight's balancing act between the light and the dark. Was he going to be the good boy Natalie wanted him to be or was he going to have a lot of sex at the Raven? The third season brushed past the question in its headlong dive toward cancellation. |
Danielle Laux
I liked it because that was the season that got me hooked :):):) |
