First of all, Nicholas would NOT die. No way, no how. Because that would just
kill the series. So instead, him and LaCroix would take off and leave Natalie
behind (alive). Nicholas will realize he must always move on and that him and
Natalie can't be together because she is mortal (and he would NOT bring her
across!). So there's the answer. |

As the last credits roll across the screen, the following words appear:
"JUST KIDDING!!!!" |
Missie
How would I have written the end of Last Knight? Well, let's see. I wouldn't
have Lacroix standing over Nick with the stake. I would have made Nick turn Nat
into a vampire. |
Jody Lister
Tracy would not be dead - Vachon would come back from the dead and bring her
across, and Nat would have been saved when Schanke (also back from the dead)
appeared as her guardian angel and saved her. She would have killed LaCroix,
and Nick would still be alive. Schanke would later return to the precinct with
Cohen, and Stonetree, Urs and Divia (now good) and had a big party after
killing anyone involved with TriStar. |
Ellen Tracy
Obviously, I WOULD NOT HAVE ENDED IT!!! But if I had to, I would not have let
events progress to the point of deseration that Nick and Natalie (especially)
found themselves in. Tracy could have been shot, but survived, knowing what
Nick is (I'm not a Perkulator, it's just empathy with the name). That would
have resulted in one less death for Nick to feel guilty over. I think that Nick
should have just moved on, like he was going to in "Black Buddha", and not tell
anyone, or wait for Natalie to find him before he left. And I definitely think
he should have left with LaCroix when he first went to the Raven and realized
LaCroix was packing to leave. |
Beverly Turner
If it was really the end I wouldn't change a thing. Since I cannot accept the
end of the best show ever on tv I would probably make Nick wake up and realize
it was all a dream and Tracy, Nat are still alive. Maybe it would be his signal
that it was time to move on before he made it all happen for real. |
E. Albertson
Assuming it had to end? Nick and Nat together, one way or another. In a way,
I'd rather he became human, but if they were both vampires, the show could be
resarted at some point, or made into movies. |
Reva
I would have had Reese knock at the door just as Lacroix raises the stake. Then
Nick and Lacroix fly away and Reese bursts in finding Natalie on the floor. He
takes her to the hospital and she is revived. She can't stop thinking about
Nick. He has moved on but she finds him and he is incredibly guilty about what
happened.
He has killed Lacroix and is about to kill himself when Nat finds him. She
begs him to bring her across. He does and they spend eternity together. |
Sheila A. Coneybeer
LaCroix does not stake Nick, but does render him unconscious. LC takes Nat to
emergency room. She survives. LC returns to loft before Nick recovers and
waits. Lets Nick rant and rave a bit, thinking Nat has died and that it is his
fault. LC tells Nick he couldn't let him go, he will have to find someone else
to do his dirty work and kill him if he still wants to die. LC convinces Nick
it is time to move on, escape lingering loose ends before they entangle them.
They relocate to Europe where LC finally tells Nick that Nat is alive and well,
but thinks Nick is dead at LC's hand because he managed to break her resistance
to the 'whammy' in her weakened condition.
With this ending at least, a 4th season could be possible, but not happily for
me because of 'Ashes to Ashes'. If we can rewrite the ending to that as well,
actually moving Vachon down the road, not killing him, then do 'Last Knight'
with this ending, adding that LC and Nick encounter Vachon in Europe,
well....... Hope springs eternal. |

I have two points of view on this question.
1) From a personal point of view, I hated the end of this episode, probably because it had no closure (the final ending to Quantum Leap springs inevitably to mind). I think I would have had Natalie and Nick deciding that the experiment had been a dismal failure, splitting up, and Nick disappearing off with LaCroix. I would not have had Tracy die, but I would not have brought her across. I think that I would have allowed Tracy to retain the knowledge of Nick as a vampire. 2) My second point of view is radically different and probably not very
popular. From a literary/dramatic standpoint Last Knight was perfect the way it
is. It is a dramatic ending to a dramtic story. Did anyone cry when Captain
Ahab died at the end of Moby Dick? I thought not. Forever Knight was the type
of story that precluded a "happy ending," in my opinion, as much as we might
want one for our friend, Nick. The fact is, LaCroix is right. (Of course, I am
a Cousin, so I might be biased.) The evil in man will always overcome the good.
Evil simply is stronger than good, without a powerful external source we can
use to defeat that evil. |
Moonlite
I would have had Nick turn Natalie so they could search for a cure "Forever".
This leaves an open end so the show can return anytime in the future. |
Ken Kapoor
Perfect way to end the show: In Nick's loft, Nat comes close to Nick. Nat: "Just take a little at a time. I don't mind an eternity in darkness, as long as I can spend it with you. We can be together Nick. Just make love to me." Nick thinks for a long time. He wants to say something, but is holding back... he thinks about all those years they had been together. Then he breathes in, looks deep into Natalie's waiting eyes and says to Natalie what he had been longing to say for years. Nick: "Nat." Nat: "Yes, Nick?" Nick: "Three words: I AM GAY."
THE END :) |
Marcia Tucker
Already did. The story is "Second Chances" and it can be found on my FTP site
at ftp://members.aol.com/scfimarci/fkfiction
I also wrote two other "endings", "Last Night" and "Next Knight" which should be somewhere in the FKFIC-L archives. Basically my story had LaCroix nonfatally staking Nick to put him out of
commission long enough to think about what he'd done. Meanwhile LC had taken
Natalie to get medical care. She survives, Nick and Nat both realize they were
ballistic, basically, and Nick leaves Toronto with LaCroix, having realized
that he has no business getting close to a mortal while he's still a vampire.
Nat realizes the truth of this also, and lets him go. |
Laura Wiborg
Well first of all my sister and I hated the last one. Why did everyone have to
die? The way we would have written was Nat and Nick are at his place and then
Nat says take a little at a time and make love to me and then Nick says I can
not do it I love you too much. Then they kiss and hug and then Nick looks out
the window and see's his master looking in. So then he open's the window and
Nick's master say's that he has a cure.
And then Nick and Nat say why are you giving it to us now? And he says you
where not ready for it and you have tried so hard. So then he gives it to them
and they use it and Nick is Mortal again. And I would have had Vachon, Screed
and Tracy not be dead. Well that is how we wanted it to end but it didn't and
that really makes us mad. Well By BY. |
Tina
I wouldn't have written an ending and we would be watching the 4th season. But,
if it had to end, I think killing everyone off was a bad way to end. Tracy
could be shot, but not fatally wounded and wake up and realize that Vachon
being killed was actually a nightmare, he'll be sitting by her bedside as she
regains consciousness.
As far Nick and Nat, well, being the eternal Nick and Nat packer that I am,
I really, really would like for them to be together. BUT, I like Nick as a
vampire, and I don't think Nat should be brought across, I like the idea of
them making love and Nick taking a little at a time. That way, the series could
still go on, and Nick and Nat could be together, and yet Nick will still be a
vampire. Lacroix would still be around to make Nick and Nat's life a living
eternal hell, and would still be giving Nick lectures about being a vampire,
and not trying to be mortal. Of course, although the way it ended was quite a
shock, I have to say that I can still vividly recall most of that episode, so I
guess the writers did a good job in that respect. Oh, how I miss Forever Knight.
If there is a heaven, I bet they'll have Forever Knight in syndication. |
Carolyn Alutius
Before I get too involved in my answer, I would like to say that in and of
itself, "Last Knight" was a very well done show. I wasn't happy with it because
it was the last show, naturally, and I didn't like the idea of everyone dying,
but it was a well written and very well directed episode. As far as what I
would have done, I'm kind of on the fence with it, really. In an interview in
the Philadelphia Inquirer, Ger said he personally would like a happy ending,
with Nick finding his mortality. I like Nick enough to wish him happiness, but
I think I'm too much of a "cousin" type to really want that. I'd like to see
him come to terms with what he is and just continue to drink cow blood and help
the downtrodden. So anyway, I would have ended the show with him realising that
he's overstayed his time in that incarnation and that it's time for him to move
on. In other words, take LaCroix's advice. I would have him bite Nat, but not
fatally, and she wakes up in the empty loft with a note from Nick saying how
much he loved her and thanking her for her help. He and LaCroix could move on
to another city (Philadelphia) and start anew. Philadelphia could use some good
cops. |
Sharon Bauman
First, I would have rewritten "Ashes to Ashes". That episode was totally
unbelievable. Vachon and Urs would not have died; and LaCroix WOULD have killed
Divia [anyway]. He realized she was even more evil than he was - which in
itself was a redeeming quality for LaCroix.
Then, in "Last Knight", I would not have used so much rehashed scenes just to fill time. I would have killed the "AT&T cameraman" as I call someone who has to film everything at an angle [how do you suppose people can stand at a 45 degree angle without falling on their faces, while the room is straight; and how can two people have a conversation without getting sick to their stomach when the camera spins them around like a top? Seriously, Nick would have [by now] learned how to bring a human across without killing him/her, so he would have brought Natalie across, having realized she was the second-most important woman in his life [Janette being the first]. LaCroix would NOT have agreed to stake Nick, but convinced him he had many reasons to "live", but he'd outlived his time in Toronto and it was time for the three of them to move on. [Maybe to California, where they wouldn't have been so noticed for their eccentricities...]. There they discover that Vachon has actually survivied Divia's attach, since he was stronger than she was, and he was recovering there, nursing Urs back to vampire health. But before leaving Toronto, he would have visited the hospital just before Tracy seemingly expired, and brought her across. Of course, the hospital staff didn't know she was temporarily "dead", so Natalie was telling the truth when she announced that Tracy had died. So the fourth season starts out in a new city with Nick and Nat exploring their relationship in new ways - as mentor and student; and as lovers [finally!]. Vachon gets serious about his life and helps Tracy find a vampire as perky as she is, leaving Vachon the eligible bachelor [where this storyline can be expanded greatly]. And LaCroix, as much as he tries to be the ultimate bad vampire, explores
his good side, finding a redeeming quality or two in himself but remains
cynical about humans [isn't that what we like about him]. He's a likeable
combination of good and evil - protecting the ones he cares about [and he does
have feelings], while his eyes are wide open to the evils humans perpetrate
upon themselves. Not much difference between vampires and humans ... a top |
K-A
I would have let Nick be Mortal, and lived Happiley ever after with Natalie. A
nice fairy tale ending. I would of also let Tracy be with Vachon, and made
Lacroix mortal just to torture him. |
Julie Vorderstrasse
It should have been an episode with the hope for a future. I still believe that
Lacroix can not kill Nick. A good vampire will stop him at the last minute, and
simply knock Nick out. They then steal Nat, after all she is not dead yet, and
whisk her away to continue her research into a cure. And, now Nick must search
for her. Okay so I would still be bringing back a premise for a series. |
Wakko
First of all I would have killed Tracy off much earlier in the season. I didn't
think Natalie should have been killed or brought across but rather Nick start a
new life and take Natalie with him so they could work on making him mortal and
not have LaCroix hampering their progress all of the time. |
Jenny
This particular ep I would've ended probably the same way.
B-U-T.................. there'd be a following ep: Tracey would've had a near-death experience, but came back after Nat had been informed of her death. Vachon - there'd be an earthquake, dislodging the stake he was pierced w/, somehow blood would've been available to reanimate him, & would be @ Tracey's bedside when she revived & awoke. Following eps would show a better representation of their developing "relationship". Natalie wasn't dead after all, & began to revive after we thought Nick had been staked by Lacroix. Another story ep. to show what kind of "shape" Nat would be in after reviving (mortal/brought across?) Lacroix wouldn't have really "staked" Nick, but @ the last second "accidentally" missing him to give him a 2nd chance to decide what he really wanted. Think that's it. |
Marie
Well, if I were to say everything, I would be writing a book, so here's the
little version:
First we start with Ashes to Ashes by Divia (I REALLY HATE her!!!) attacking Vachon and Urs, BUT... they don't die. (YAY!!!) Instead Urs stays on the brink of dying and Vachon is ready to be staked by Tracy, but Tracy 'accidentally' cuts herself with it and gets the idea to feed some of her blood to Vachon, and just enough so she doesn't die or faint, but enough for Vachon to fight off Divia's venom and make him a healthy vampire again. (Tracy went to work knowing Vachon was well) Vachon then rushes to Nick's where him and Nat are trying to save Urs, Vachon tells them what to do and Nat gives some of her blood to Urs. Urs lives. They (LaCriox, Nick, Vachon, and Urs) then gang up on Divia, stake her and she dies. They then burn her to ashes (now you know the reason for the title) :) Last Knight:
Everything happens like the episode, but Vachon saves Tracy (they fall in
love), Nick tells Nat he loves her (FINALLY!!!) and he brings her across.
Janette comes back and we then have Season 4!!! Okay, so I wrote a little
longer than I planned. |
Izabela
First of all, I wouldn't have. Period. But seeing as how they did, I would have
brought Vachon back somehow and had him bring Tracy across in the hospital.
Then I would have had Nick agree to bring Natalie across and really, really
play up the love scene. Hopefully by the end of it all the viewers would be in
ecstacy instead of agony. |
Rosemary
I wouldn't have ended the series. Are you kidding. Where did they leave their
brains. Nick should have brought Nat across and then the two of them dispose of
Lacroix. He's a real downer. Nat and Nick could have been together forever and
searched for a cure. Tracy and Vashon shouldn't have died either. They should
have fallen in love. That was a real crummy way to end a great series. Why are
all the best shows taken off TV? |
Julie
Nick brings Nat across and they go off together. |
Dan Stanish
- Not have Tracy die. That was I dunno... She was begining to come into her
own in the series.... - At the very end... have Lacroix smack Nick over the head w/ the stake and bring Natalie across himself... |
Melissa Puzio
If I was to rewrite Last Knight, IT WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED!! But seriously, I would make drastic changes. First of all, NOBODY DIES! NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO DIE! LaCroix would have whapped Nick upside the head with that wicked looking staff and would have brought Nat across. Then they would go to Paris to look for Janette who merely moved there to get away from Nick, since he was driving her crazy with his incessant searches for mortality, not because she wanted to become human, god forbid that would ever happen :) Like LK, Human Factor is another not to be taken as canon episode. Even though she can be annoying, Tracy will live. (see above paragraph) Vachon will regenerate, (after Tracy poured a crate of blood on his grave in unseen scenes from ashes to ashes. He will arrive at the hospital just in time to bring Tracy across, after she is shot. Urs will regenerate, after Divia died, and together, the three of them will meet up with Screed, who, coincidentally, did not die in fever, and become a new and improved crew.
Voila! A concept for movies, written by Cousin Mel! |
Hattie Marcus
I would have liked to see Nick tell Natalie that he always loved her and wish
he would have married her and they go off and live happily ever after! |
Teresa K.
I would have had Nick coming out of the shower as Nat awoke on the bed... Oops,
wrong show. Really now, I would have liked to have seen the following: Nick, attempting to take Nat, fails (or so it appears). Janette is seen in the wings, with a doctor's bag that contains AB- blood and an IV. Nick believing he killed Natalie, asks LaCroix to end it for him. As LaCroix raises the wooden stake, we CLEARLY see a tear that is not made of blood slowly descend upon his cheek. LaCroix, unable to truely let his son go, merely knocks him unconsious... not knowing that the strong emotions that Nicholas has been experiencing have caused a change in him (kinda like the temporary change people experience from adrenalin), he is mortal. LaCroix leaves, Janette enters, and starts the IV on Natalie. She knows what has happened, will happen, and forgives Nicholas. "You deserve the second chance at mortality. Cherish it, Nicholas. You only live twice." She leaves. Nicholas slowly comes to as sun-light starts to flood his loft. He finds Natalie on the IV. She is slowly coming to. As he reaches to put his hand on hers, they both look out at the new day as it begins. (Well, what do you think?) |
Karen
My ending would have had Nick awaking to what he thought was a dream, only to
discover that Natalie and himself were married and had a baby. This baby starts
exhibiting vampire behavior. It all seems familiar to Nick but he can't connect
it. He is happy in the fact that him and Natalie are together and happy.
This leaves the door open for more new episodes in the future. |
Adamant Phoenix
Last Knight never happened! Noone dies! Noone ever dies! There, got that out of my system. If I DID have to write it, Nat wouldn't be on the brink of death, Tracy would still be alive, (we need a lot of perky people in the world today) and LaCroix wouldn't be standing over Nick with a stake. Actually, I rewrote and ending for this one, but scrapped it. It was nicely made, but too depressing. (Sobbing) |
