The thing that really got me hooked on the show was that it got you to really
like the characters and it wasn't a cheesy vampires show. |

What got me hooked on the show? The SEX of course! |
Ellen Tracy
First and foremost - I am into the vampire mythos - I have one bookcase with
nothing but books on vampires. I had liked the "Nick Knight" movie and thought
it would make a great series (which of course it did) - But as for the series
itself, it was the characters - you really cared for them, for the struggles,
and as the characters evolved, so did my feelings for them - I evolved from a
"Knightie", to a "Dark Knightie" with Cousinly tendencies and an Immortal
Beloved. The fact that it was filmed in Toronto and didn't hide the fact was a
BIG bonus for this Canuck (Newf). |

I was brought across in third season, and I've seen none of the earlier episodes
(That's one for the SCI-FI channel, at least). I was bored (a *very* dangerous
feeling, people, let me warn you. The Universe just loves to find interesting
things to do to people who declare themselves'bored.'), so I turned on the
idiot box. I *happened* (remember, I hadjjust used the "B" word) to flip right
into the "he was brought across..."ofrom Black Buddha. The music and Nigel
Bennett's *voice* grabbed me (Mr.BBennett, If you read this, YOU ARE FANTASTIC!)
and wouldn't let go.
Anyway, I picked up on the premise pretty quickly (I've been a fan of "good guy" vampires for quite a while), but I'd never seen anything to even approach this. Witty, *inteligent* dialog, a protagonist with QUEST rivaling that of the Holy Grail, a gorgeous *INTELLIGENT* womantto help him in that quest (the romantic side of that was great, too.),aand a really *creepy* guy who came out with some of the best monologues I've ever heard. It took me a while to deduce the relationship of the Nightcrawler and Nick, though. I've been hooked ever since, I haven't seen TV this good since the Twilight Zone. The character interplay, the characters themselves (Yes, even Tracy. I *know* people like Tracy.), the emphasis on the choices between good and evil, all of this and more meld into somethingtthat speaks to the humanity in us, makes us ask ourselves some of *those*qquestions, the ones that can keep you awake for nights on end. *This* is why I watch Forever Knight: Because it enriches me. |

Nick, his condition, his history, his perspective, and mostly his vision/goal
to be mortal again! I also like the balance, offbeat variety in the show. All
the different characters & their perspectives, it's all so full and much to
chose from! Noone, I mean NOONE has ever tied a 13th century vamp w/a 20th
century cop before on TV, and no one ever will again.
That's why I'm willing to love every moment of it & fight for another chance
to see these same actors do what they have done SO well! |
Gayle McCreedy
I got hooked on the endless morality discussions! I enjoy the fact that each
character has his/her own moral ambiguities, flaws, ideosyncracies, and that
their actions exhibit the same inconsistancies as real people's. Each character
has qualities of heroism and each character can be a real loser, sometimes at
the same moment. Each action's morality is qualified by perception rather than
being one-dimensional (ie- Was Nick a hero by killing the German officer and
the woman because he was furthering the cause of the French resistance, or was
he a putz by killing them because he cut off an important line of information?
And will we -or he- ever know?). The fact that this discussion comes inside a
vampire/cop show is less important to me than that the discussion itself is
held. (And therein lies my sense of loss upon the show's cancellation.) |

Gee, I'm almost embarrassed to admit this but.....I'm a little creature of the
night, I'm generally taking a work break about 12 mid and I don't have cable TV
and FK was the only non-infommercial on! More embarrassment. . . I can't even
recall which second season episode I first saw, but I've been faithful since
then 'cause it almost always gives me a much needed laugh!! |
Shirley Davis
Why, Ger of course and the fact that he's a vampire. |
Max Ernst
I found the show accidently one night while changing channels. I left it on
just to see what it was about and when I saw that it was about vampires... I
was hooked! I've always had a thing for vampires. Of course, after seeing
Lacroix for the first time, this became my favorite show... right next to
X-Files :) |
Don Fasig
Short & sweet. The vampires. |
Kevin Matsumoto
The characters and the interaction between them. Especially LaCroix and Nick.
And Nick and Natalie. |
Tina
The first time I saw the show was during the first season when it used to be
offered as CrimeTime After PrimeTime as an alternative to late night TV. Thank
God. I stayed up late every Tuesday night to watch Nick, whom I fell in love
with the first moment I saw him. He's so vulnerable, yet can be so strong and
dangerous. I think I like a little bit of danger mixed with softness. He's
always struggling with right and wrong, as are we all, regardless of mortality.
I became fascinated with the premise of LaCroix and Nick - sins of the fathers,
and all. But, the best part of the whole show is the flashback scenes. That's
probably the second thing that got me hooked. The show managed to show a little
bit of history, along with mystery, intrigue, and love. I guess, basically,
it's the perfect show.
If I sound a bit like a fan, well I'm sorry, but I am extremely enamored of
Nick and his gang! |

It was a slow process. It used to be on weekend afternoons where I live, and
occaisionally I'd be bored (there's that word again) and I'd flip through the
channels trying to find something good on. I stumbled across FK one day, and it
reminded me of Highlander, so I watched some of it. I've always liked vampires,
but at first I wasn't impressed, lord knows why. However, I soon found myself
watching it whenever I could. I think this was around the second season, I
remember it was the Emily Weiss episode. That was funny and interesting and I
was hooked. I was really excited when USA (boo) picked it up, because I thought
it would be on consistantly now, and not be pre-empted by Saturday afternoon
baseball games. Anyway, I don't have to tell anyone that the writing and the
storylines are consistantly brilliant, which is what really drew me, not to
mention the fact that Nick is drop dead handsome, and LaCroix's monologues were
seductive and thought-provoking. My wish now is, if they don't renew the series,
they'll do TV movies like they've done with Alien Nation. |
Jean Freund
I did this once and erased it (AHHH). The first thing that attracted me to the
show was wondering how they would handle the basic premise of a vampire as a
cop. That got me watching, however, once I started I became "hooked" by the
relationships of the main characters. The fact that Tracy knew Vachon was a
vampire. Nick knew that Tracy knew Vachon, and also knew that Tracy did not
know Nick was in actuality a vampire. I guess the suspense of keeping all of
these side plots going, and never knowing when the whole thing would "blow up"
and everyone would find out about all of these sub-plots. Secondly, I only
started watching in the third season so I am really in the dark as to the first
two seasons, but I was very intrigued by the character of Javier Vachon (Ben
Bass). I have to admit that that had alot to do with my initial watching habits
as well. Lastly, (HALLELUJAH) it was something different. I am so SICK of the
same old formats on regular TV!!!! You will notice all of the new shows for
fall that are emulating the very popular X-files format. FK was different from
anything I had seen before, and though it had its flaws, it was great escapism. |
Michael Dickinson
The reality of the situations. Nick was not just some bloodsucking, transparent
character. His love for Natalie as well as his hatred for what he was was very
profound. |
K-A
The love story. The very first scene I remember seeing was the one with Nick
and Natalie sitting at the table after Nick re-discovered he was a vampire. When
Nick said to Natalie is that why we can never be together I was hooked for life.
The expressions on Natalie's face were priceless. I love a good love story and
the thought of these to people loving each other soooo much and not being able
to be together was just sooooo sad for me to ever pass up. |
Ellen Compton
The first reason I watched it is because it was a vampire show (Me loveing the
vampires and seeing almost every movie). But I think the aspect of the show
that really got me hooked is the it isn't the old vampire story. You know
vampire going around killing young virgin blonde. Loveing being a vampire. Has
no respect for anyone except for their own kind. It gets boring after a while.
IT'S COOL!!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) |
Sharon Bauman
What really got me hooked on it was the quality writing and acting. Vampire
shows can be so tacky, but generally Forever Knight was great. I especially
like his moral dilemma - he's a vampire and he wants to be one and yet he
doesn't. |
Karen
I remember my husband and I really enjoyed the movie and thought it would make
a great series. Then one day CBS started Crime Time and we would occasionally
stay up and watch it. Later our local station carried it sporadically and it
was then we really got into it. I can't speak for him, but the biggest draw for
me was Natalie and Nick's relationship. I think they are the best couple on TV
anywhere.
The storyline is always very interesting, even though not always the best, but which show hasn't had one or two crummy episodes? Like someone said, it's one of our favorite ways to escape. P.S. Even though a lot of people don't like Tracy, if it wasn't for her,
there'd be no reason to have written in Vachon and he definitely was a second
reason to watch this year!! My husband and I have enjoyed vampire shows, and
this was one of the reasons to watch. Also, it was at the time, a different
twist, a vampire not wanting to be one anymore. |
Sheila A. Coneybeer
Vampires in today's society, what a concept, I love it. Course, I love vampires,
always have, always will. But the idea that they are all around us.... That
your best friend may be a vampire, especially if you work night shift (which I
used to). Course, GWD isn't hard on the eyes, which helped. And I was a fan of
his from his Airwolf days. And LaCroix was so deliciously evil. Well, there
were and still are so many things about the show that grab me and still do.
Then when they added Vachon, well, talk about sensory overload.... I can't
think of anything about the show that repels me, not even poor sweet Trace. |
Marg Rothschild
Blood Money was the first episode I watched last year during reruns. I was
hooked on several things - just to name a few:
The quality of the show (Ger did a great job directing this one!). I like
the moral values of the show - vampire trying to become mortal again, that kind
of thing. The fact that there was humour mixed in with the darkness of the show.
Of course, having handsome actors in the show helped too! |
Laura Wiborg
What aspect of the show really got you hooked on it. Well I think that it was
the Vampires because I am really into them. And my little sister got hooked on
it because she always watched it with me because she shared a room and we only
had one TV. Well that is what we have to say By BY. |
James D Little
The thing which hooked me most was Nigel Bennett's portrayal of Lucien Lacroix.
In the second and third seasons I would always impatiently await one of his
malicious radio monologues, and in the first season I even enjoyed the somewhat
(and I really hate to describe it this way) tacky appearences he would make as
Nick's "anti-concience." A great actor playing the best of MANY great
characters. |
Stephanie Kellerman
What hooked me on the show was the idea that Nick is a loner trying to fit in,
Natalie is trying to help and what he does to try to become human again. |
Darlene
I didn't start watching until the third season, but after only two shows it
became obvious that the story plots are more complicated than the usual TV fare.
I tend to like shows that make me think, not the usual drivel we see on network
TV. |
Chris Rosmini
Interesting, If it was "Why do you watch", I'd probably say for the quality of
the writing, the remarkably good cast, the development and interaction of the
characters and the usually pretty good combining of two of my favorite genres,
respectable reasons all.
But the truth is, what got me hooked was Nick, the immortal, and his yearning for redemption and his love affair with things mortal, his bittersweet romance with Natalie, his persistent attempts to be something he perceives as better than he is, and the unabashedly Romantic slant this gives to the serious issues the stories often deal with. That Nick is also charming and dangerous and beautiful as the dawn helped reel me in too. Now my husband, who introduced me to this show ("Have a piece of candy, little
girl?), liked Nick the mysterious loner, always having to guard against
discovery, the power struggles in his life, and the immortality. |

Because I rarely sleep nights, I happened to catch an episode when FK was
still on CBS, as part of a late-night programming package. So, it's not untrue
to say insomnia was the prime motivator for my first experience with the show.
Serendipity. . . I have an interest in the vampire myth-cycle to begin with, and was quite surprised to simply stumble across a show that handles the subject with innovation, intelligence, and a rather complex moral viewpoint. These items are rare indeed in television shows. In vampire programming, they are virtually non-existent. Also, FK demonstrates, in a graphic and entertaining way, how history affects the present day. So, the show is educational as well as fun. All this got me hooked in one episode. Also, other than the character of "Nick" in FK, there are very few positive
role models for vampires in the media. A matter for the Anti-defamation League?
The A.C.L.U.? Should we start a letter-writing campaign? |
Kindred
The aspect of the show that got me hooked was the mystery behind all of the
vampires...I also enjoy when they introduce new vampires, or show us vampires
from Nick's past.... |
Cousin Cp
The thing that drew me in was that, even though it was cheesy, it was about
vampires. I "came across" in the middle of season 2 (I have since found out),
and I wondered at times whether it was a vampire show about cops or a cop show
about vampires. The thing that kept me watching was a combination of Fred
Mollin's music and The Vam we Love to Hate, Our Lord and Master, Lacroix (not
in that order). Without Lacroix there would be no show and without that rivalry
between him and the would-be straight-laced, pious-as-a-monk Nicolas, what
would they have to talk about. |
Beverly Turner
FK is different from any other vampire show and radically different from any other cop show but yet they put the two together and throw in a bit of moral confusion and you have a great show. I am not sure what actually got me hooked at first but I am an addict now. |
