This is actually a harder question than I thought it was at first. My initial
thought was NO!!!! I can't stand her, and she ruined Forever Knight's last
season. My next thoughts were, It isn't really fair to blame Tracy, what I
really disliked about the third season was the lack of Deb Duchene (note, I am
not a Ravenette - but I thought she was really important to the show). Tracy
was never really given a chance, we started off with the knowledge that she
got her job because of her father's position as commissioner, and then later,
we had to watch while she went through pointless plot twists to keep Nick from
finding out about vampires. Everything just combined to make her look
ridiculous. It would have been a lot more interesting if she had found out
about Nick, and tried not to let him know that she knew about him, or if she
had found out about him, and then worked with him as a real partner. |

No, I don't like Tracy. After the Black Buddah episodes, I was willing to like
her, but subsequent episodes made her character seem idiotic. She was always
running off on her own, needing Nick and/or Vachon to save her; she and
everyone else were *always* saying what a "good cop" she was, but her actions
indicated otherwise. I also didn't like that the show seemed to be turning
into Forever *Vetter* instead of Forever *Knight*. Tracy got more tolerable
during the second half of the season, but it might also be because she wasn't
in each episode as much. So, Fred & Tia, I was quite willing to like Tracy,
but the TPTB screwed the character up. I did feel some sadness when she died,
however, learning that Nick hadn't trusted her with his "secret." |
Angie Lotto
As dinner she looked fine. As a cop she sucked. As a person she seemed ok too.
She wasn't cut out for this job and that's for sure! |
Julie Stafford
I know this isn't going to be a very "exciting" answer, but I like Tracy
because she *is* a bit perky and hasn't yet been made jaded by life and its
problems. It is also nice to see someone on a show who, how do I say this, is
somewhat "innocent" still? |

I like Tracy, partly because she was the first partner that I saw with Nick,
not having been exposed to any 1st or 2nd season FK. I like Tracy because you
started out believing that she was weak and she didn't belong as a homicide
detective, but she was allowed to prove herself many times in that she helped
solve the Voodoo bombings by providing a key idea in the search thus proving
she had what it takes. True she did many stupid things in the proving like
going back in the warehouse where all the bodies from the plane explosion
were, just because she saw something. In MHO, her partner was there and she
should have taken him with her. Also, she never should have gone undercover
in TG just to prove that the shooting of that perp at the beginning didn't
bother her. In fin, she was a well rounded character, something that I liked
about her that made her a good cop also got her in trouble. I was very saddened
by her death in LK. |

I've always found Tracy to be vaguely annoying except----when she's with Vachon.
I love the two of them together! However, I don't want anything to happen to
her. I DO NOT want her dead! I want her alive, mortal and still being Nick's
partner. |
Lisa McDavid
I wouldn't have said I *disliked* Tracy, but she bored me dreadfully. Thanks
to the decision not to let her know about Nick although she did know about
Vachon, she came across as incredibly unobservant for a police detective. Even
worse was the fact that because she was an attractive young woman -- but not,
thank heavens, a rival for Natalie -- she had zero potential for the Schanke
interaction with Nick. So time devoted to her, for me, became time stolen from
characters I cared about.
Possibly if we'd seen more of Vachon and Tracy, I might have liked her,
because I found Vachon interesting. Tracy alone simply left me watching the
clock and wondering why I didn't just leave it to the VCR and go to bed. |
Jerimi Paul
Tracy is a character that I have mixed feelings about. I think that, to quote
Stephen King, she has "deep steel in her," but between Nick and her father,
she doesn't get to show it very often. I think that I empathize with her
somewhat because she has growing and learning still to do- while Nick and
LaCroix don't seem to *want* to change. So, I admire her at times for being
persistent, and at other times I want to bop her over the head for being silly. |
CandyPAC
I LOVE Tracy. She's a little dingy at times, but could she be any worse than
when Schanke started out? I haven't seen the 1st season, but was a real jerk
in the movie. The 2nd season portrayed him as a more normal human being. I
really got to like Schanke in the end, but Tracy didn't always compete with
Nick. She respected his experience and was learning from it. She had a lot
more to learn, but what rookie doesn't?
My favorite scene with her was in FEVER. She and Vachon were touching in his thought-to-be-last minutes. Regretfully, my most disliked scene with her is also in FEVER. When Vachon bares his teeth and tells her to get out, she seemed to push a reaction. She's really cute. I could coin an old phrase. "Cute as a button." Bad nickname to be stuck with, isn't it? If I could have written the script, I wanted Tracy to know about Nick. I
think it could have helped him relax, knowing that he didn't have to always
cover up what he was to Tracy. What other kind of partner should Nick have?
So far he's had a guy that thought he was tops and always come out on the
bottom. Next he had a rookie. If I were to write the script, I would put Tracy
in, but I don't know if I'd put her as Nick's partner, unless she knew about him. |
Sheila & Vicki
No one could easily replace Sckanke. The rapport between him & Nick was a
favorite part of the show. Tracy was too weak a character. She became the
victim of the week too often. She was naive, spoiled by her father, and she
didn't seem the type to be a cop. And she whined. The whole intro to her in
Black Buddha in the caddie with Nick was whiney(sp?) and got her off to a bad
start. If the character had been more mature or a more seasoned cop, it might
have worked. Tracy's character might have been better as Donna Reed's neighbor,
but not as a 90's cop, especially with a vampire as a partner. At least the
writers had the good sense not to have her pining away after Nick. |
Max Ernst
I CAN'T STAND TRACY!!!!! I've tried to be patient with her but she is soooo
boring... Episode after episode of watching her and I still can't take her
boring character. I can't understand why they put her into the script and took
out Janette. It doesn't make any sense to me. |
Ken Kapoor
NOPE! I don't know why, but she just gets on my nerves! There's something
about her...for one thing, there just isn't anything interesting about her.
She's just...THERE. And she doesn't seem to be the most intelligent person
there. |
Kndled
Ah, ha!! Well, here goes. In the beginning, I hated her. Then again, I've been
a devoted FKer since second season. I loved Schanke (and JK playing him).
Frankly, I thought the character was perfect for the show. At times, he had to
be my favorite. Then, poof...he's dead. Needless to say, I was a bit upset. I
guess I resented Tracy for trying to fill Schank's shoes. Still, that could
never happen. While she would never be the partner Nick had, she still turned
out to be an in depth character with many possibilities. This, I liked. While
I really don't like most of third season, I think Trace has been bashed a bit
much. She knew she had no chance to make up for Nick's lost, but she didn't
try to be. She was Det. Tracy Vetter, and the rest of the world would just
have to live with it. Do I think she was played to her fullest? Not a chance.
Is that LR's fault? No. In the beginning, she didn't seem to be an actress
anywhere near the level of the second season. Still, she grew... a lot. In the
end, she wasn't half bad. If anything, I think she changed as an actress, and
she helped build Tracy into a person. Am I a Perkulator? I guess it depends on
the last ep. I saw, and what mood I was in (though I may flatly deny it). It
really doesn't matter, though. She may not be the best char. in the world; but
considering what TPTB could have stuck us with, I'd say we did pretty well.
Here's one for Tracy and any bravely admitting Perkulator tendencies!
Hurrah! (or something like that) |

Last Knight spoiler
Like? This is an interesting question. I like having perky people around in
*limited* doses, so I would probably like having Tracy as a friend, if she
existed, but I suppose the question really relates to the character and what
she does or does not add to the show.
She comes in with two strikes against her. She replaces Schanke, who was a great foil for Nick, and she is obviously USA's way of "babe-ing up" FK, perhaps with an idea of making it more like _Silk Stalkings_ . But, is she a good addition? She obviously benefits from her dad's protection, she frequently goes off on her own without backup, and without keeping her partner advised of her whereabouts. Of course, both Nick and Reese have done the same thing, but Tracy's habit of being where she shouldn't have been got her killed. And, as I've said elsewhere, LK is the first episode where I really liked
what Tracy was wearing. Too bad she went and got a hole in it! |
Karen C. Smith
Most of the time no. But, she was a necessary part of the show. We just
couldn't like everybody in the precinct and she was pretty good at being
cutesy and annoying. While Schanke was annoying to the point that you wanted
to strangle him (that's good because it got a strong reaction from the viewers)
while for the most part I just wanted Tracy to go away and I really didn't get
too upset when she wasn't a large part of any particular episode. Have to run,
want to catch FK on KDVR and it's almost midnight here. |

Slight Last Knight spoiler
I cringed when you asked this because it reminded me of what Ger asked everyone
at the Gerthering: "So what did you think of Lisa Ryder?" The room was dead
silent. I feel so badly for Lisa Ryder -- I think that people have been
unnecessarily hard on her because of the whole USA/losing John Kapelos deal.
It is my personal feeling that if Tracy had been Nick's first partner (season one), that people would have grown to care about her the way they do Schanke. But, face it, season 3 and the whole dynamic established between her and Vachon and her and Nick really prevented Tracy from becoming part of the 'family.' The most telling line is from Last Knight in Nick's loft when Natalie calls her 'Tracy Vetter' -- like they barely knew her, like they know a whole bunch of Tracy's. She was their co-worker, but she was never their friend, and it is a sad, sad thing. In the end, Tracy was no more a part of the cop community on FK than our loner Vachon was part of the vampire community -- two outsiders, more similar inside then most realize, two kindred souls who were never allowed to be together because TPTB never bothered to think things through and give them the air time together that they needed. So, do I like Tracy? Yes, I do. She is no where near as stupid or terminally-perky as people make her out to be, and, from what I have seen of Schanke, she may actually be a better cop! She was the one figured out Vudu's pattern in Black Buddha, she was the one who tracked down Janette's family in Human Factor, she was the one put the pieces together in Jane Doe to figure out the woman's identity, and who knows what would have happened in Last Knight if Nick had not shown up and Tracy was left to deal with the perp alone. People complain that she goes off on her own and does stupid things, well, so does her partner -- the veteran detective who should be showing her the ropes. Nick's excuse is that he is a vampire, but Tracy doesn't know this, so she is simply following his example. And as far as Tracy figuring out about Nick being a vampire, well, it really isn't that simple is it? She has been given no reason to even consider that Nick might be a vampire -- why would Vachon whammy him if he was a vampire? Schanke had far more evidence than Tracy did, but he never believed it. Of course, this deceiving of Tracy by Nick is what put the wall between them and prevented them from really becoming effective partners. If Tracy had known that Nick was a vampire, I think they could have made a very effective team -- as it was they were isolated and ineffective. I don't know if Nick should have told Tracy he was a vampire, but her line about "You could have trusted me" was right on the mark. He could have trusted her -- she kept Vachon's secret for the entire season, and she kept Nick's secret about Janette in Human Factor. Whether or not he could trust her had everything to do with these things and nothing to do with her ability as a cop, and it is a completely different question from 'Should he have told her he was a vampire?' I like Tracy and Lisa Ryder. I am embarrassed that Lisa has been treated so
unkindly and I am sorry that Tracy will not have another season of FK to prove
her value and worth to the show. |
Sheila A. Coneybeer
This is not as easy to answer as you may think. You are a Perkulator, so I
assume you like Tracy. I don't necessarily dislike her as much as envy her. I
am a Vaquera. I would like to be her. So what if she is perky. Nick needs a
little balance. He and Nat are too morose at times. The interplay between
Vachon and Tracy helps to, occasionally, lighten a show that can become too
heavy. At least they didn't make her an airhead as well as a perky blonde. She
has some smarts and is trying hard to be her own person, inspite of daddy. I
admire that, having been there (husband not daddy). I know the show is called
Forever Knight and that some people felt that the relationship between Vachon
and Tracy was doomed to failure because of the sexual tension, but there was
still much that could have been done with it. If for no other reason than to
keep Vachon around, I liked Tracy.
Next question....! |
Ellen Compton
On one point I would have to say yes, because if she wasn't that perky, then I
would have never found funny stories about her like "The Adventures of Tracy,
Warrior Tart".
On another point I'd have to say no. NO ONE CAN BE THAT PERKY!!! I drive my
friend nuts. So I don't like her, but I don't hate her. |
Kelley Bleyle
Last Knight spoiler
Of course I do. For one the show needs some sorta cheerful side to it. (not that
vampires living in Toronto as cops isn't funny) But sometimes I really wish
that she knew that Nick was a vampire (and when she "dies" doesn't count.) I
mean she doesn't have to tell Nick that she knew. Besides that would make her
a lot more trusting in him
On another note I really don't believe that Vachon or Tracy is/are dead!
Tracy took the stake out!!! And I don't think the way they "killed Tracy off"
was believe-able She has got to be the safest mortal in town:) And Nick
definitely would have sinced her in the room with him! |

Slight Ashes to Ashes spoiler
Yes and no. Briefly-
I like her a little more now than I did at the beginning of season 3. I guess she has grown on me a 'little.' She has gained more 'backbone' by finally telling her dad that she didn't want the job. She had become a little more assertive as a cop. However, I didn't like the sudden change in her attitude towards Vachon in
AtA when they were sitting in her car. That didn't make much sense because
they had been going along fine until then. Maybe it was PMS? |
Debra Ann Fiorini
Do I like Tracy? Yes. Why? Well, I never really saw what was wrong with the
character. She is hard-working, tries her best, is honest, uncorrupt, gets
along well with Nick.
I don't see the problem. She is an underestimated young woman trying to succeed in a male-dominated workplace and doing her best. I came into FK in the 3rd season and Tracy was the first partner I ever saw Nick have. I soon got sick and tired of hearing how "She's no Schanke..." and when I finally got to see seasons 1 and 2, I'll admit I liked Schanke, but I wasn't overly impressed nor did I see how he was so much better than Tracy. So, yes she is easy to make fun of, but she is bright and certainly tries.
So, yes, I like the character of Tracy. She is portrayed much better than many
other women on TV. |
K-A
Yes and no. Sometimes she's funny, but at other times she is just so stupid.
Its 50% 50%. |
Carolyn Alutius
My first instinct was to say no, but truthfully we never had a chance to get
to know Tracy very well. She had her moments, even though she seemed to fall
victim a little too often to the villain du jour. I think a really funny scene
would have been to have Nick, Natalie, Vachon and Tracey all on a date
together or something, with everyone trying to hide the fact they know more
than they should about each other. |
Joe LaCour
No. She did not have the interplay with Nick that Schanke did. She also seemed
to be a bit of a ditz. |
Amy Denton
No, I don't like Tracy. At least not the way she was written in the show. I
think she was a wasted character. Every once in a while, there'd be *some*
glimmer of intelligence and then *Poof!!*...gone. And she wondered why Nick
didn't trust her with his secret. Would you? She was an airhead except when
she was with Vachon. Then she actually had a brain.
As for Lisa Ryder, I think she's an excellant actress. How would you like to be stuck the umpteenth thousandth role of a 'bimbo'. I have a friend who had the privilage of meeting Lisa Ryder at Ger's Taming of the Shrew play in Toronto and she said that Lisa was very nice. 'What Tracy would be if she had a brain.' is what she said, I think. Can't wait to see other people's answers! |

Ashes to Ashes and Last Knight spoilers
Do I like Tracy? That is a tough one. Can I get away with "Kinda, sorta"?
I mean, she wasn't totally horrible, but she wasn't exactly great either. Let's
do the pro/con thing.
Well, that's all I can think of at the moment. Counting it up, it's Con ahead by one if you count two points each for "perky" and "blonde and skinny", and one point for each faint. That perky stuff just makes my teeth itch, so I guess my final answer must be - No, I didn't like Tracy. Much. |

Kinda Last Knight spoiler
Tracy is my favorite character. She is young (like me!) and tries very hard to
be a good cop, but she sometimes does things without thinking (just like me!).
I can really identify with her. I think she would be a cool sister or friend.
I haven't seen "Last Knight" or "Ashes to Ashes" yet, but people have told me
what happened. I'm sad they ended it that way. |
Laura Wiborg
Do I like Tracy? Well my sister and I think that she is ok. Sometimes I really
like her and sometimes she makes me want to scream. Well that is it By BY. |
Beth A. Washington
No, not really. I am a new fan of Forever Knight too, and I learned to love
the show by watching only Tracy episodes. Lately, since I got my hands on
tapes of the first two seasons, I have gotten to see Schanke, and I like him
much better.
Why don't I like Tracy? Not a simple answer, but I'll try to be brief. She was not a team player - though Nick is hard to be team player with. Instead of even trying to work with Nick, often times she would run off on her own. She always seemed to have a problem or related experience to whatever case they were working on - which was OK for a couple of times, but got tiresome after a while. I also didn't like the fact that she was so squeamish, and that her reactions to shooting and killing someone was so severe. She's a cop, and her training should have helped her to deal with the inevitable. I know this is not the actresse's fault. Tracy was written poorly. The only
thing I sort of enjoyed about this character was her relationship with Vachon,
knowing his secret, and working with Nick, and NOT knowing his. It lead to
some very interesting, and somewhat amusing scenes. |
Kimberly Wood
Well, I don't really dislike her, but I don't especially like her. It isn't
Lisa's fault. The character just has no real purpose. They should have (after
killing off Schanke) just let Nick go solo! But, hey, sex sells, and USA sells
a lot of it! |
Lois Palmer
Well, I would have to say that "Tracy" was a character that was poorly executed
on the FK viewing population. She had great potential but they made me want to
hate her. But she was a very good supporting actress once you get numbed by the
perkiness. :)
Just kidding, Freddy! |
Jen
I like the character of Tracy, but I don't like the way the writers fluctuated
with her. Okay, she can't be whammied but she is dumb enough to buy the old
"allergic to the sun" routine even AFTER she knew about Vachon? yeah right!!! |
Margaret Spare
Sort of. She does stipid things more often than I can believe. At least I don't
hate her. |
Naomi Engle
I may be misquoting this but every time I see Tracy I think of the poem "I do
not like thee Dr. Fell. Why I don't I cannot tell" or something like that. She
just didn't fit into the Forever Knight cast. It was hard to believe that
someone who had just made detective would be so incompetent. Also it didn't
make sense that if she knew Vachon was a vampire that she wouldn't have
figured out that Nick was one too. |
Melanie Bates
Both. (Sorry) I like her in some eps, and I dislike her some alot in others.
I am always left w/the feeling that her character was largely underdeveloped.
She had a lot of good qualities, and yet there were times she seemed shallow,
self-centered, falsely secure, and this sort of thing. I think I like her best
in, <<<gasp>>> LK. Even thought I hate the fact that LK
occurred, I think Tracey was at her best (as far as I've seen, since I'm only
a partial 3rd season person through no fault of my own) -- especially in the
final scenes with Vachon. |
Lisa Marvin
Yes, I like Tracy. I thought that she was such a drastic change from Schanke
that many people immediately disliked her for it, which was not her fault.
IMHO Lisa Ryder is a good actress. The writers didn't use her to her full
potential, again not her fault. I wish that Tracy's character had known about
Nick being a vampire, because it would have made for some new, interesting
plot twists. She had a "perky" personality, but I didn't think that was such
a bad thing. She could have developed into a deeper character given more time
and better writing of her character. |
Deanna Czarnuszewicz
I can answer your question for this week on behalf of our Brisbane Forever
Knight group, because we have spoken before on this subject. I don't know of
one person in our group who actually likes Tracy! One person at our party
after seeing Francesca said: "I refuse to believe that Tracy ever had an intelligent soul." Yes, I think they are being very unfair, BUT several
people did say that they were gaining a new appreciation of Tracy during the
last few episodes. |
Gwyn Raven
Tracy was really annoying at the beginning of the season, but I think by the
end she had matured a lot. The relationship between her and Vachon was
facinating to watch and I would have liked to see her reaction if she ever
found out that Nick was a vampire. She always complained that he was "such as
skeptic". |
Debra Eve
I never had a problem with Tracy. She's very young, green, making her first
"career move" in a very WEIRD situation. I know lots of women like her (wait,
maybe I was one 12 years ago |
