Yes I would love to be a Vampire. They get to live for centuries and
live many many life times. When I think of all the things I want to do
with my life I have no clue how I will ever fit them in or afford to do
them all. But as a vampire I would have the time and the resources. And
to top it all off I would get to be in the company of a wonderful Vamp
just like LaCroix. ( I believe the characters are based on real Vamps
<g>) With all those opportunities who wouldn't want to be a Vamp? |
Don Fasig
The key here would seem to be "Whose version of the vampire legend?"
If you mean the FK version, then the answer is a qualified yes. Why? C'mon...power, immortality, control.... |
Raymond E. Heuer
Would I like to be a vampire? You bet.
As the ads for "Lost Boys" said, "Sleep all day/party all night/never grow old/never die/It's fun to be a vampire! Annoyingly, the philosophy was never properly explored in the movie. |

I actually thought about this question last week, when the "good or evil"
debate was heating up the list. Would I want to become an evil thing? Are
vampires really evil, or is the question moot, because our values are
"culturally relative"?
Sorry, I can't answer and stayed out of that debate. But I can say yes, I would want to become a vampire anyway. Our earth is so vast, so intricate, so teeming with knowledge that I never feel I can truly do everything I want to do. So much of our lives are caught up with repetition and safety that decades go by before we even notice we've forgotten to live. Perhaps a vampire's life would cut through some of our human mediocrity, because they live eternally on the cutting edge of death. Does that make them evil? I think vampires, like humans, have choices. In fact, that's the premise of "Forever Knight" -- the choice to contribute to the world, despite one's failings as a "human being." On a lighter note . . . Great web site, Mr. Happy!

Would I like to be a vampire? Yes I would.
The major drawback would be seeing all of your family dying, but chances are you will experience at least some of your family dying during your mortal life anyway. I would like to become a vampire because there is so much out there I want to see and do. There are so many languages I would like to learn, but simply don't have the time. There are so many places I would like to visit, but simply don't have the time. Yes, seeing them by night would be a bit awkward, but at least I would be seeing them. Maybe there would come a time when I would want the true death, but I'm
sure that wouldn't be for at least a few hundred years. |
Shirley Davis
I would like to be a vampire because I could watch the world evolve. I
would have time to learn many languages and travel and save up one hell of a
bank account! I have always been fascinated how time changes the planet and
cultures. I would love to have been around during the dinosaur era, and the
Black Plague, King Arthur, Vlad the Impaler and so forth. There would be
painful times when family and friends pass on but you move on and make new
friends.
I am a night person even though I have to work days. Yuck! I can not stand
bright light. I have to wear sunglasses outside unless it is a cloudy day.
I see perfectly at night. I enjoy the quietness of the night, it is so peaceful
and relaxing. Not like the mad house it is during the day. I would even
enjoy drinking blood, I think. Everybody wants to be immortal but few are
really willing to pay the price. I am one that would. |
Kelley Bleyle
Ya, I *think* I would. Because ever since I can remember I've had a fascination
with them. I don't know why but now, I'll just settle with playing one on TV |
Heather Poinsett
I think I would enjoy being a vampire. Why??? Just being able to be
around to experience the world. I went to Europe last summer, I was able
to stay for about two months b/c I worked in an internship program. Money
is always tight for students and I know it will take a lot of time to be
able to save up enough to do all the traveling I want. I would love to
have that first-hand knowledge of history. I have to admit though I would
have a lot of trouble dealing with deaths of loved ones. I'm sure I'd
eventually go nuts and walk out into the sun.
But to experience centuries of history and all that knowledge. |
Carolyn Alutius
Oooh! Good question, and deceptively deep. (you know, the whole "vampires are
extensions of our dark side", sort of thing) Anyway, yes. I've wanted to be a
vampire since I was around eleven years old and got to play one in my theater
group. Not the Lucy Westenra type, mooning about in graveyards and eating
babies, but a Janette, cool and interesting and hanging around trendy clubs. |
Leslie I.Plummer
No, I already have eternity in love and faith. I want the fullest life, this
life has to offer. I want to share my spirit & love & experience mortality. I
believe in reincarnation, so I am at peace on the eternity issue. But, I also
appreciate just how precious the corporeal manifest is... that it should not
be wasted! So, I value THIS life too. |
Max Ernst
I have thought about this question and I don't have just one answer. The best
way for me to explain it is like this.
I would love to be an Anne Rice vampire. I love the vampires in her world, especially, Lestat. I would love to spend the rest of eternity knowing that Lestat would be there for me... and Louis also! The Ricean vampires cannot wander around during the day so I would miss daylight. I wouldn't mind being a Forever Knight vampire either. I would be dedicated to Lacroix. I would enjoy being as evil and/or good as he is. I would spend a lot of time dancing at the Raven and enticing mortals who want to be vampires... but I would never bring anybody across. Why? Because it's my perogative! I would not want to be a vampire from the Vampire: The Masquerade world or from the Kindred: The Embraced world. I would not want to spend the rest of eternity knowing that at any moment a vampire from another clan would want to do away with me. Sometimes I think it would be exciting to belong to Clan Toreador... but when I think that the enemies of this clan might destroy me at any moment, forget it! I would not want to be a Bram Stoker vampire either. Having to bring dirt from your homeland where ever you traveled does not appeal to me. Having to sleep in coffins doesn't appeal to me either. As much as I loved Dracula, he is a tragic, romantic figure that I wouldn't want to emulate. So there you have my response. I could not give you a simple yes/no,
why/why-not answer because this question requires a multi-faceted answer. |
Elena Villafuerte
This is a nasty question!
*Yes*, I would like to be a vampire. And I would like to because that would give me immortality, which I understand as unlimited time and possibilities. Time to read all interesting books. Time to see movies and anything else they will invent. Time to become wiser (I hope!) Time to travel and travel (and the possibility to avoid airplanes, trains and buses, which are hateful but at the moment necessary). Life is too short to do everything I would like to do and I dream of doing. Also it would be nice to be one of those elegant, mysterious immortals! *No*, I wouldn't like to be a vampire. Because I love food (real food) too
much. Because I couldn't bear to lose loved ones again and again, or to have
to keep moving on. |
Alex Stachowiak
Yes I would, as long as I don't look really ugly and my skull doesn't go ugly,
like in Vampire in Brooklyn. Vampires are cool. |
Kelly Beranger
Actually I wouldn't like to be a vampire. Personally I'd like to think
immortality wouldn't be all that it's cracked up to be. Also I really can't
stand the site of blood. Gives me the heebie-jeebies and makes me feel blah.
Not good qualities for a vampire I fear. |
Laura Wiborg
My sister and I think that we don't want to become a Vampire because we will
never want to live forever watching friends die and stuff like that. Well that
is it. Bye Bye. |
Morganna
I'm not a vampire but I have a Vampyre Persona which is very real to me. So I
would say yes I would like to be a vamp, but not an FK vampire. Too much
angst and worry. To me, FK is just one of the many vampire universes and I
enjoy them all equally. The idea of immortality is a very tempting one. I
would prefer to be a beautiful vampire though. I don't think I'd look too good
with pointy ears, buck teeth and claws, a la Nosferau/Max Shreck! |
Sheila A. Coneybeer
Sometimes I think I should be a vampire. I sleep best during the day. Even
when I sleep at night I don't rest and then I want to sleep the next day away.
I have little fear of the night and anything in it. The night shadows are
forgiving of physical inperfections, the daylight only accentuates them. At
night I feel at ease, sensual, strong and in control. To have the strength and
power of a vampire on top of how I already feel as a mortal: YES, I'll take
it! NOW!!! The price is acceptable if it is my soul, for I gave it up long ago. |
K-A
No, I'd hate to live forever. |
Beth A. Washington
Interesting question, and one I have actually thought about. Half of me says
yes, I would, and the other half says, no, don't be absurd. Let me explain
both sides.
The "yes" side of me: I am intrigued by immortality and the ability to fly. I have often had flying dreams, and I have a fascination with things that allow man to fly, such as helicopters, fighter jets, jet packs, etc. I am a Superman fan for the very same reason. My desire for immortality comes from my fear of death, and though I would love to be an immortal like Duncan or Conner MaCleod, I think I would go for being a vampire instead so that I could fly as well. I have had *very* seductive dreams of being a vampire, and though this sounds silly, I have felt very erotic feelings while sucking on the neck of another vampire while in my dream (it helps that the other vampire was Nick <eg>). Another reason - I would never be sick, and the things that ail me now would be gone. That is very inviting. The "No" side of me: The idea of being souless, of knowing that if I do eventually die, that I would not be accepted into the kingdom of God, *really* bothers me. My fear of death comes from my fear of being unworthy in the eyes of God, and being immortal only delays the inevitable. I would also miss the sunshine and the hussle and bustle that goes with human life during the daytime. I would miss playing in my flower gardens and watching them grow. I would miss eating chocolate, fresh fruit, all the other wonderful foods available. Most of all, I would miss most of my children's lives growing up. They would always be sleeping when I am awake, and I could not go with them to their favorite activities during the day. So - If I did not have children, and there was a way to be a vampire without being evil, especially in the eyes of God, without having to kill other humans to eat and survive - yes. I would become a vampire if I could find one willing to bring me across without killing me! <beg> Sorry for the novel, but this is something I have been thinking about a bit lately, especially with the conversations on the list, and the fact that I just got all of season 1 and 2 on tape and I have been watching 1 or 2 episodes every night. Oh well! |
Kimberly Wood
I don't know. It sounds intriguing. I wouldn't want to have lived in some
places from the past, so I would want to have became one in this century. It
would be neat to be able to see what happens in the future eventually. |
Tina
No, I wouldn't because it has too many drawbacks, like no suntan, and I hate
the sight of blood, but, I would LOVE to be really, really good friends with a
vampire such as Nick Knight or Lestat de Lioncourt, and I would especially die
(which may happen) in order to spend a night with one in vampire love making.
Sorry, but you asked. |
Maddy Baker
After I've done everything that I set out to do with my life (raise my kids,
finish my education, etc.) then YES, I would love to be a vampire. As an
immortal, I could live long enough to satisfy my curiosity about what's going
to happen in the future (I hate the thought of dying without knowing what's
going to happen next). And having the power of a vampire would be a bonus;
think of all the ways a vampire could correct injustice in the world... |

This is an interesting question, I actually tried to think of every Pro and
Con.
The number one Pro would be flying. I can't even watch Superman without getting frustrated about not being able to fly. What a rush that would be. Hang gliding isn't quite the same. #2 Pro would be being completely safe to wander the streets at night (without packing heat). It would be great to be able to kick some bad-guy butt, but then that is also a Con, because it would be too easy to play God. I think I'd get tired of the one-note diet pretty quickly, might be a good business opportunity though, create flavors, Mango AB-, Strawberry O, etc. The biggest con however is the death of your friends and family, my mother died a few years ago, and I still feel like I'm in the fetal position, emotionally where that is concerned. I think immortality would be very tiring, after a century or so. I was traveling in Greece, a few years ago, and saw them putting up crosses
on this church, when I asked if it was a celebration of some kind, one man
shook his head and said "Vampyr". Now he might have been messing with my White
Middle-class American Tourist head, but I didn't know any Greek, so I didn't
hang around to find out, just got on my motor-bike and beat it out of there.
To paraphrase Vachon, I've had a few wrinkles in my reality, I wasn't
interested in adding that one. |
Ellen Compton
Yes, I would like to be a vampire. the frist reason is I love to live forever.
2nd If LaCroix brought me across, (A girl can only hope.) I love Janette as a
older sitter. And the best reason for me being a vampire. I get to annoy the
hell out of Nick. |
Karen
I think it depends on who would have brought me across. I imagine a lot of
anger and frustration if LaCroix was the one. I don't think I would have gone
willingly. However, I think I have more trust in Nick (despite his unseeming
record) or Vachon. Both have characteristics I would feel comfortable with in
my new "life"! I do think I would miss the daylight once in awhile!! |
Hugo Trépanier
This one contains a slight spoiler for Last Knight near the end!
Salut Fred pis tout le monde!
I would certainly like to be a vampire, y'know. This was my dream when I was a kid... I think I would still like it, even though I have been somewhat disillusioned. The main reason would be immortality. But this is a scary thought when you think about it. It can be a cure or a curse. I would certainly love to see mankind evolve with the years, being able to see and participate in the greatest moments of history, and live many different lives... But I would miss my mortal friends. I guess this is part of the vampire life. (I told you I don't believe in them anymore now, didn't I? ;) And the second best reason would be the ability to fly. This is also part of my dreams, and this one I still think about quite frequently. Mainly in my dreams at night (or very early in the morning as is now the case - night shift!!)... This is something I would really like to do, as much for the "coolness" of it as to impress people! Wicked. :) The only downside would be the killing part, but a certain Toronto cop found a way around it... I don't believe he's dead, so I would only have to ask him. That's it for me! Guess I'll go read others' responses now... |
Melissa Puzio aka Cousin Mel
Would I like to be a vampire? Does a bear shit in the woods? Is the pope
Catholic? Does Nick have angst?
Of course I would!! My mom says I'm halfway there already. Let's see, I like rare steak, I only drink red wine, the sight of blood makes me all tingly inside, I'm already as pale as Uncle....all that's left is to become immortal. In the immortal words of Miller Lite...."Why ask why?" |
Christine L.
I would like to be a vampire. For one, probably the most important one,
immortality. To see things that may be impossible to see in a normal life
span.
Then there are powers of course. I wouldn't really mind giving up school and daylight. In the twentieth century who really doesn't hang out at nights? Of course the drinking of the blood isn't a pleasant thought, and giving up all those great sensation of taste, like indulging yourself chocolates, would be all most unbearable. But then who said immortality doesn't come with some catch? |
