Forever Knight character: Lucien Lacroix (french pronunciation) | |
![]() |
Nigel Bennett portrays one of the most popular characters of the show: Lucien Lacroix. Lacroix is Nick's and Janette's vampire daddy, their creator. He is a mean, powerful 2000 year old vampire. He's been brought across into the vampire community by his own daughter, Divia, during the volcanic eruption in Pompeii. Nowadays, Lacroix works at CERK, a radio station, as "The Nightcrawler". His monologues on CERK are usually erudite, intriguing and sometimes even disturbing. They almost always have something to do with Nick, or something that's going on in Nick's life. He spends much of his time making his son's life miserable, trying to convince him to embrace his dark side. Of course, that's no easy task, and like any normal child, Nick just won't listen to his loving and caring daddy... |
Nigel's life (Last updated: May 1997)
An accomplished theatre actor, Nigel appeared on the British stage for fifteen years
before moving to Canada in 1986. During this time, he starred in "The Secret Diary of
Adrain Mole" at the Wyndhams Theatre in London's West End. He also perfomed in "Ghosts",
"Private Lives" and "Rookery Nook" at such theaters as Haymarket Theatre in Leicester, The
Crucible Theatre, The Bristol Old Vic and the King's Head Theatre Club as well as many
seasons on the stages of Canterbury, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, Manchester,
Liverpool and Sheffield in England.
Nigel's feature film work includes co-starring with Gene Hackman, Anne Archer and James B. Sikkin in "Narrow Margin", the starring role in "The Outside Chance of Maximilian Glick", a poignant drama that was voted Best New Film at both Toronto Festival of Festivals and the Vancouver International Film Festival in 1988, and an appearance in "Legends of the Fall" starring Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt.
Nigel's television credits in Great Britain include "Harry", "Happy Hunting Ground", "Elizabeth Alone", "Housewarming", "Reilly, Ace of Spys", and the marathon-running series "Coronation Street". Recently, Mr. Bennett co-wrote a book with author P.N. Elrod called Keeper of the King. Nigel is on the cover as the protagonist, a medieval vampire who now lives in Toronto. You can read the first two chapters of this excellent book at Baen Books' site.
Nigel is an avid golfer who also enjoys skiing and ice fishing when the weather turns cold.
